It's been another busy day today. Go, go, go all day pretty much.
Zoe woke up at 3am. I think she was hot. I spent about an hour trying to get her back to sleep in her own bed, and then she ended up in bed with me anyway. It was a caffeine day today.
First up, we had a play date at her friend Frankie's. Frankie goes to Kindergarten with Zoe and lives a stone's throw down the road, so that was nice and easy. She's in a house with a nice big back yard and a trampoline. After a lot of initial parallel play, the girls and Frankie's little brother had a great time. We all ended up fooling around on their trampoline together.
Late morning, we bid them farewell and walked to the CityCat to catch the ferry into Southbank to go the museum. It was far more expedient to just throw Zoe on my shoulders to get to the ferry stop in a timely manner.
First up, we had lunch. I ran into a friend from my old Rover crew, who I haven't seen in over a decade, in the cafe. That was a pleasant surprise.
After lunch, we briefly detoured through the museum before spending most of the afternoon in the Science Centre. I wanted to get a bit more use out of our annual membership before it expires. I find the Queensland Museum and Science Centre to be pretty disappointing compared to other museums and science centres I've been to around the world, but the museum itself is free, and we've got an annual pass for the Science Centre, and most importantly Zoe enjoys them both, so it's all good.
Zoe wanted to take the bus home, which was a shorter walk from the museum, so that was fine by me. We managed to get one without having to wait too long, but we hit the after school glut of school students, so it was pretty packed. Fortunately it didn't fill up until after we were on it.
I went to an REIQ information night, not far from Sarah's place, so I dropped Zoe around to Sarah and went to that. After that, I decided to crash the Parents and Citizens meeting for Morningside State School, since that's the school Zoe will most probably be going to next year. I've been meaning to go to a meeting for a while to take the temperature of the P&C and generally try and get a feel for the school community.
I'm really glad that I was able to go tonight, as I got to meet the principal, and I also discovered that they have a pre-Prep thing on tomorrow, so I can take Zoe along to that.
