Day 99: A play date and not a lot else

We had a pretty quiet day today, and that worked out pretty well.

I'd lined up a play date with Zoe's friend Frankie from Kindergarten at Hardcastle Park, by the ferry terminal first thing. So as soon as Sarah dropped Zoe off, we geared up, and Zoe scootered all the way there. The girls had a great time playing in the park and scootering all over the place. It turns out that Frankie lives a stone's throw from our place, so that's good to know.

Zoe's super confident on the scooter now, really enjoying long downhill runs. We scootered home via a different route, and she got quite a good speed up at various points, and there was one stage where I thought she was going to crash but she managed to recover.

We spent the rest of the day pottering around at home. Zoe's taken to spending more time playing in her room since it's been made over. We played "shop" for a bit. I also introduced her to Marvin the Martian, since she saw him on the carousel yesterday at Movie World, and I'd done my impression of "Where's the kaboom? There was supposed to be an earth-shattering kaboom" yesterday. Zoe hasn't seen much in the way of Looney Tunes or Merrie Melodies, and it seems so ridiculously violent compared to kid's television today. I cringed every time a gun came out, because guns are such a verboten thing today.

After lunch I took Zoe for a walk in the stroller down to Bulimba to the florist to organise some flowers for Zoe to give to her mother for Mother's Day. I think there was a little bit of confusion on Zoe's behalf and she thought we were going to a forest.

When we got back from the florist, we gave the balcony a big clean up. It got ravaged by the weekend's westeries, and there was stuff everywhere. Once it was cleaned up Zoe decorated a couple of magnets that she was given for her birthday.

Late in the afternoon we visited out neighbour, who's just given birth to a little girl. At 15 days, this would have to have been the youngest and smallest baby that Zoe's ever held.

In hindsight, I realised today would have been a great day to do some baking. Now that we're not bothering with play group on a Thursday, I'll have to try and remember to do something like that
