I've found that one major downside of my current life arrangement is that it takes days to recover from major events.
Zoe's birthday party happened on Saturday, and it went really well. I spent the bulk of the Sunday installing her new bunk bed and generally giving her bedroom a makeover. The rest of the house is still littered with detritus from the birthday party. I'm gradually getting on top of it.
Brisbane seemed to have experienced what I'd call an unseasonable cold snap over the weekend and into this morning. Strong westerlies have really made it feel quite chilly. This morning, after I finally extracted myself from bed, I managed to go for the first run I've been able to do for a couple of weeks. I managed 5 kilometres without much trouble, but the time was nothing fantastic. I've got 6 weeks to get into shape for the City2South. The cooler temperature made the run really nice.
After that I cleaned up the house a bit more, took the helium tank back to Spotlight, and did the grocery shopping that I never got time to do yesterday. Once that was all done, it was time to head into Kindergarten a little bit early so that I could give some of Zoe's leftover birthday cake to all of her Kindergarten classmates.
After Kindergarten, we popped around to Megan's place to see how their house upgrades were going, and then headed home for the big bedroom reveal.
I spent most of Sunday assembling Zoe's bunk bed, and out at IKEA getting a few bits and pieces and assembling shelving, as well as putting Zoe's room back together again. By the end of the day I was really happy with the result, and excited to see what Zoe thought of it.
Zoe was suitably impressed when she saw it today. I thought she'd be more excited about the top bunk, but tonight she's sleeping in the bottom bunk.
Anshu came over for dinner and to see the finished room too. I made a most delicious vegetarian chilli con carne, which I will totally be making again.
It's a cool night again tonight, and Zoe's nicely snuggled in bed, so I'm hopeful that she'll sleep well.
